Salzburg

Located just 20km from Salzburg, this pretty village of Faistenau is in the region of the Austrian Salzkammergut. Apart from being an ideal place to visit the region of the Austrian lakes, it has much interest of its own including the Church of the Holy Apostle Jacob (James), built in 1324, with its Baroque altar.

A lakes excursion is included to St Gilgen, birthplace of Mozart's mother, and St Wolfgang, with its famous White Horse Inn. You will enjoy a boat trip across Lake Wolfgang and an unforgettable journey on the “Schafbergbahn” cog railway.

A half-day excursion is also included to Bad Ischl, the famous spa town in the Lake District, the preferred summer residence of the Emperor‟s family and therefore known for its "Kaiser Villa".

The highlight of your holiday must surely be a visit to Mondsee, where you can visit the church used for the wedding scene in the film, The Sound of Music, and then continue to Salzburg, where you will be introduced to the highlights and history of this musical city and birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Entry into Mozart house is an option.

You stay throughout the holiday at the four-star Alta Post hotel, in Faistenau, or similar, with dinner, bed and breakfast. This is a friendly, traditional hotel with a great deal of charm. There is a terrace and guest garden, and a spa area with large indoor pool free of charge. In addition there is a fitness room, tennis court, Finnish sauna, steam-bath, relaxation room and infra-red cabin. A full day is set aside for you to enjoy at leisure either in the locality or to use the facilities at the hotel.
