You arrive at Ben Gurion airport, Tel Aviv, for the start of “An experience of a life time!” Travel throughout is by air-conditioned luxury coach. You stay the first night at Netanya, on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea, two nights near Tiberias, by the Sea of Galilee, and four nights in Jerusalem. Accommodation with dinner, bed and breakfast, is in superior tourist class / 4-star hotels.
During the tour, you will visit sites particularly associated with the life of Jesus, his death and resurrection, but you will also see some historical Jewish sites, such as the "Wailing Wall" in the midst of the Old City in Jerusalem - the remains of the wall supporting the Temple Mount, which has remained intact since the destruction of the second temple in 70 AD. It became the most sacred spot in the Jewish religion by virtue of its proximity to the "Holy of Holies‟. Our main concentration, however, will be on Christian sites.
The tour will follow the route described below, but circumstances might require some changes to be made: Caesarea, Nazareth, Cana of Galilee, Capernaum, Tabgha (the feeding of the five thousand site), Mount of Beatitudes, the "Jesus boat" and a sail on the Sea of Galilee, Peter's primacy, Kursi, Hippos, River Jordan baptismal site, Jericho, Mount Tabor (the Transfiguration), Chapel of the Ascension, Bethany, Bethphage, Mount of Olives, the route of Jesus‟s entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, the Old City of Jerusalem, the Upper Room (Last Supper), Garden of Gethsemane and the Church of All Nations, Pool of Bethesda, Via Delarosa, Church of the Holy Sepulchre, Garden Tomb, Qumran (Dead Sea scrolls) and a dip in the Dead Sea, the road to Emmaus and, of course, Bethlehem and the Shepherds' Fields, where it all began.
Our leaders are experienced, and will look after the spiritual and social aspects of the tour. An Israeli English-speaking guide will accompany our group throughout the tour and there will be the services of a local coach driver. It is customary to "tip" the guide and driver at the end of the tour (not included).
Representatives from Thornleigh Travel will also be on hand to assist holidaymakers in the travel arrangements. Direct flights can be arranged to Tel Aviv from Manchester (with Jet2), London Heathrow (with ElAl) and London Luton (with easyJet). Thornleigh Travel will be pleased to book flights at cost price.
