Holy Land Pilgrimages in 2012/13
PERSONAL LETTER TO CHURCH LEADERS
Have you been to the Holy Land?
Or have you contemplated arranging a group from your church/fellowship?
By letting us organise a Pilgrimage on your behalf we can provide you with one, two or even more FREE PLACE(S), based on one for every twenty paying (excludes air fares). You do not have to bring a large number, although bigger groups are possible, but sometimes “Small is beautiful!” We can accommodate both ‘big’ and ‘small’.
We are expanding our overseas programme in 2012 to include more tours to the HOLY LAND. Whilst we are still arranging our own escorted holidays for individual customers, we are looking for vicars, ministers, pastors or group leaders to bring their own people to Israel, for “The Holiday of a Life Time”, at a time of the year which suits them – spring or autumn is the best time (not too hot!).
If you have previously organised and/or led a pilgrimage to the Holy Lane you will know the benefit derived by everyone in “Walking in the steps of Jesus”. If you are looking at this idea for the first time, there is nothing onerous in planning such a tour with Thornleigh Travel.
We look after all the organisation of the tour. Members of our team will assist at UK airport(s) and with travel arrangements to Israel. A local English-speaking guide, licensed by the Israeli government, will lead your group expertly round sites, throughout the pilgrimage, but you will be the spiritual leader, free to deal with your group by reading the appropriate bible passages and having times of prayer – a very important role. There will be opportunity to hold a Communion Service, usually on the shore of the Sea of Galilee.
Direct flights to Tel Aviv depart from Manchester and London (Heathrow and Luton) – you can decide which airport is the most convenient. We find that a tour of 7 nights/8 days is best and allows time to visit most of the Christian sites, including Bethlehem, Nazareth, the area surrounding the Sea of Galilee, Capernaum and towns round the north of the lake, a baptismal site in the River Jordan, Jericho, the Inn of the Good Samaritan, Bethany, Jerusalem and the Mount of Olives, Via Delarosa, Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the Garden Tomb and ‘Emmaus’ – but not in that order!
You will also visit Caesarea, on the Mediterranean coast, the “Wailing Wall” in Jerusalem, take a dip in the Dead Sea (optional!) and see Qumran, where the Dead Sea scrolls were discovered.
We will be very happy to discuss the possibility of your Pilgrimage on the telephone. Contact us for further details. We would also be pleased to visit your church/fellowship, by arrangement, with a power-point presentation and to talk to people who might be interested.
