FLIGHT AT COST TO PISA
You stay in Montecatini Terme, a busy town with many charming shops and little cafés, for the whole of this holiday in the 4-star Hotel Nizza et Suisse, or similar. Make the opportunity to ride the funicular railway to Montecatini Alto for stunning views over the surrounding countryside and to visit the Tettuco spa. During your stay you will explore by air-conditioned coach the famous Tuscany countryside, immortalised in films and literature.
A visit will be made to enchanting Siena, a medieval city rich with distinctive architecture, home to one of Italy's greatest cathedrals, where you will have a guided tour, and San Gimignano, perhaps the most famous and enchanting little town in Italy. You will be able to walk round the town walls to get a lovely view of the narrow streets, elegant palaces and medieval churches.
You will travel to Florence, the birthplace of the Renaissance and a veritable treasure house of art and architecture, where there will also be a guided tour. The huge terracotta dome of the cathedral was designed to dwarf the buildings of ancient Greece and Rome, and still dominates the skyline today. The Baptistery, Bell Tower, Santa Croce and Santa Maria Novella, and the Ponte Vecchio have all contributed to making Florence one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
Pisa and Lucca are two proud, old Italian cities wreathed in past glories, and the famous Leaning Tower is possibly the most famous symbol of Italy. Graceful Lucca is encircled by Renaissance ramparts and again there will be a guided tour.
