A wonderful holiday in the Austrian Tyrol, staying in the village of Maurach, close to Lake Achensee, the largest and highest Alpine lake. Free travel on local buses, enabling you to explore interesting villages nearby and the beautiful lakeside resort of Pertisau, just a few kilometres away. There are spectacular walks locally for those wishing to take part.
The holiday provides an excursion programme during your stay, including travel on the steam-hauled 133-year-old rack-and-pinion Achensee railway as it whistles, hisses and puffs on a scenic route between Seespitz, on the Lake shore, and Jenbach, at the head of the Ziller Valley below. You will enjoy a coach excursion to the world-famous Swarovski Crystal factory at Wattens, in the foothills of the Austrain Alps, and then spend an after-noon in Innsbruck, capital city of the Tyrol, as well as cable-car rides into the surrounding mountain ranges - the Rofangebirge and the Karwendel. Also included are complimentary cruises on the Lake ships and free entry into three local museums.
You stay at the excellent family-run Klingler Hotel, with dinner, bed and breakfast. Frau Klingler will ensure that you feel very welcome at their hotel, where you will have free use of the Sauna and Fitness Room. She will, on one afternoon, provide a complimenary cake in the pleasant café attached to the hotel.
